The gbs-control is a cheap yet effective diy upscaler based on a modified GBS-8200/8220 arcade board. Using modified firmware, you can connect and upscale older gen consoles into a vga or component(d-sub) output. I've had great results with this, but there are limitations. Input methods are limited to component or vga. This can be a problem for those who only have composite or s-video outputs.
BE CAREFUL if converting inputs like composite to vga/component, as well as the vga output to hdmi. Cheap converters will ruin the video quality, and converting lower quality video like composite will still suffer from lower quality than a direct component output.
